A-CERO
Rafael Llamazares and Joaquin Torres founded their own practice of architecture known as A-Cero. At the beginning, the two architects admire the classics Le Corbousier and Mies, but during their career they have particularly attracted by the minimalist architecture of John Pawson by the Spanish masters Ignacio Vincens and José Antonio Ramos. After they had designed their own practice, they undertook a small project: the construction of the pub “Casa Pilar”, an ambitious project characterized by a great deal of balance. Success was immediate: this projects was followed by the design of Juan Torres’ house and of La Finca de Somosaguas, where has been created a unique plot for the construction of 180 houses. A-Cero’s inspiration comes directly from the formal universe of large contemporary sculpture. A-Cero creates architectural geometries through a complicate process which leads from Le Corbusier’s purism to curvilinear glimpses, typical of Zaha Hadid. Curves and extreme corners characterize both A-Cero’s architectural structures and interior design furniture. The key of their success is to maintain the idea throughout the process, from the beginning to the phase of project management, analyzing every single detail. For this reason, “why” is as important as “how”. A-Cero is currently experiencing a significant internationalization process, with collaborations in Europe, UAE, Lebanon, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the U.S.A.
