MARIO BOTTA
Mario Botta was born in 1943 in the Italian part of Switzerland where he completed his first studies. Then his school education moves to the Italian territory and it is at the IUAV (University Institute of Architecture) of Venice that he obtained the degree in architecture. In the lagoon city he began to practice in the studio of Le Corbusier and Louis I. Kahn. Then the Swiss architect returned to his native land where he opened his own studio in Lugano. Both in architecture and design Botta uses simple and linear lines preferring in constructions materials such as bricks, stone and wood. For Alias he created the chair Quinta 605 , the chair Italian Seconda and the table Tesi 609. For Artemide he created the lamps Shogun and Wall Shogun.
